Pause/Play: Culture under Pressure takes place online from September to October 2023 and in Yerevan, Armenia, from November 6th to 12th, 2023. The aim is to support artists and cultural practitioners in Armenia and Georgia, as well as professionals who have had to leave their home countries due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and political repressions in Belarus, by learning and exchanging knowledge and experience of use of digital technologies for artistic practices. Pause/Play: Culture Under Pressure was started in 2022. It includes online and offline lectures, presentations, and QA sessions with selected speakers and mentors, followed by lab and public events in Yerevan. The chosen concepts of the participants will be presented at the exhibition and the pitching sessions. Pause / Play: Culture under Pressure is organized by Kultuschafft e.V and Untitled Gallery, Tbilisi, with financial support from the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Tatiana Bazzichelli will give a keynote Thursday Oct 19 on new possible routes of social and political action within the framework of artistic practices and digital culture. How is disruption developed in the framework of art and culture? How can artists and cultural producers foster a critical debate on society, generating political and cultural change? What is the connection between art and whistleblowing? This keynote will analyse artistic actions able to generate possible changes in politics, technology and the society at large.
